| Product: | DataMan |
| Platform: | DataMan 7550 |
Full Description
I have a DataMan 7550, and it is causing my computer to behave erratically after I put it in USB-Keyboard mode. It seems like the DataMan is outputting massive numbers of random characters to the keyboard port and is logging me into and out of Windows, hitting keyboard combinations, etc.
Solution
This is a known issue that occurs when USB-Keyboard mode is activated before disconnecting from the Setup Tool. To prevent it from happening, disconnect from the Setup Tool before scanning the USB-Keyboard code.
If the reader is currently in this mode, then it may not respond to any of the configuration codes. The way to fix the reader is to remove the battery and then hold down the trigger while reinserting it. Keep holding the trigger down until the DataMan beeps and the lights flash.
This will reset the reader to factory defaults and clear this mode. Note that the factory default settings for this reader do not put it in USB-Serial mode, so you will need to scan the configuration code for USB-Serial as well to get it to connect with the Setup tool.
